Introducing Dr. Jerome J. Zortman
"I suffered for years," remembers Dr. Jerome Zortman. "But after my first visit to a chiropractor my life was changed forever."
"I admit I was skeptic when my parents took me to my great uncle, Dr. Breedlove, a chiropractor in Missouri, I was having headaches and chest pain almost daily after my high school football injury. Conventional medical methods had failed to give any relief and I was reluctant but to humor my parents I received my first chiropractic treatment."
"It was incredible," continues Dr. Zortman. "I will never forget the feeling, it was as if a huge weight was lifted off my chest and the headaches began to ease. That's when I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor."
Dr. Zortman began his pre-chiropractic education at The University of Iowa where he studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses.
After completing his study there, he was accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During his four years at Palmer, courses included biochemistry, major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, x-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic. After graduating Dr. Zortman accepted a two year internship in Tucson, Arizona to further his experience and knowledge of chiropractic. When finished with this training, Dr. Zortman returned to Iowa to start his practice and established Zortman Chiropractic Clinic.
"I love to help patients that are skeptics or that have been told they will have to live with their pain," smiles Dr. Zortman. "I still remember the concerns and apprehensions I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate. Patients appreciate that." At Zortman Chiropractic, Dr. Zortman uses only the state of the art techniques to treat a wide range of patients from infants, to adults, to geriatric patients suffering from a myriad of symptoms, including headaches, numbness and tingling in the hands, and pain in the back, neck, shoulders, chest, and extremities.
